Martial arts begin and end with respect, Shinobi Kai Dojo is no exception.

Nobody expects you to know all the proper formal behaviors when you walk in the door, so don't be nervous. Act courteous as you would in any other setting. When you join, you will be given a sheet with the rules of the school. When in doubt, follow the senior students or instructors, and remember, new students aren't expected to know the school's rules until they've had a chance to learn them!

Entering the Dojo

As you enter the Dojo, please bow at the Dojo entrance. No outdoor shoes are to be worn in the Dojo. Please remove your shoes inside the door and neatly place your shoes on or under the bench

Should there be a class in progress, please do not interupt the class be talking to the students or walking onto the mats.

You will need to sign the attendance register and pay your class fee. Make your way to the changing room and change into your 'Gi' and sit in the waiting area until the current class has finished. When the current class has finished, you may enter the matted area and train or warm up before the main class. Should the you arrive and find no class in progress, you are welcome to use the mats .

Main Class

Prior to the class starting, Sensei will anounce the class is to begin. All students will line up facing the 'Kadama', spirital shelf. The highest grade will sit to the front and to the right with the next grade to his/her left and working to the lowest grade. Sensei will give a brief talk on the Dojo and the 'theme' for the training. Sensei will then lead the 'Moksu' which is a brief meditation (non religous) to relax and prepare the mind for training.
After Moksu the class will start 'Taiso', which is our warm-up and stretch .
